The SES is made up of a
wide diversity of people who regularly commit
their time and energy, volunteering to assist
their communities in times of flood, storms and
other emergencies.
SES volunteers come from all walks of life and
each contributes to the SES and their local
community in their own way. There are many roles
that an SES volunteer can participate in,
regardless of age, gender or
ability.
Most of the activity
happens when areas are affected by
storms and other emergencies or when someone
is lost, but there are other roles that an SES
volunteer can do when not operational. There is a
commitment to training and updating skills as well
as practicing those already gained, but the
friendships that are forged
with fellow volunteers make this easy.
We understand that
employment and family situations impact on
when members may be available for training and
callouts. Please note however, that by
agreeing to join us you are committing to
attending training every Wednesday evening from
1900hrs to 22.00hrs and to becoming a
dependable member of the unit.
Although
we do not fight fires, we often assist the
firefighters in other roles such as
transport, logistics etc
Our courses include : - 4 x
4 driving , Radio Communications, Chainsaw
Operating , Navigation, First Aid and many others.
So if you are interested in
helping your community, developing new skills and
knowledge, applying existing skills and knowledge
to different situations, exploring the opportunity
to be creative and develop initiative, as well as
enjoying a varied and constant social life ,
